Super Ramayana Bros.

Story Idea 1: World 1, The Abduction of Sita
In the beginning of Super Mario Bros., Princess Peach is abducted by Bowser, resulting in Mario and Luigi setting out on a dangerous quest to save her. Similarly, in the Ramayana (after some exposition), Sita is abducted by Ravana, which means that Rama and Lakshmana have to chase him down to rescue her. Starting with Sita's abduction and her time in Lanka refusing to give in to Ravana, I think I can weave together a story that shows Rama and Lakshmana conquering minor beasts in an "easy world" as they "try to get their bearings in the game" that is the Ramayana. Once Rama and Lakshmana learn the controls and encounter different Mario / Ramayana cross-over elements that are new to them, I can move on to the next phase of the story, where the encounter an intermediate boss who tries to stop them.

Story Idea 2: World 2, Ravana's Fortress
In the Mario video games, there is always a midpoint castle called a fortress that you have to defeat to move on. Additionally, Mario and Luigi can't do the whole journey alone - they are often helped along by their friend Toad. In Super Ramayana Bros, this middle point fortress will be Lanka, where Ravana is hiding out with Sita, and our third character will be none other than Hanuman. This will show Hanuman helping fight off Ravana, and when he succeeds, Ravana will flee with Sita to the final stage.

Story Idea 3: World 3, The Final Boss
Eventually, every Mario Bros. game leads to the final castle where Mario and Luigi must face off against Bowser in the final stage of the level. Normally this part of the video game is very hard to win, because Bowser is really powerful, can take many hits, and Mario and Luigi are pretty low on health. The same could probably be said for the characters in the Ramayana. I think a good way to tell this story will be to take the Ramayana ideas and add the fun and randomness of Mario games. Maybe Rama can find a mystery block with a celestial power up in it that brings him back from the edge of death. And when Ravana almost kills Lakshmana, I can make him physically shrink to indicate he is at his lowest health levels. Ultimately, the brothers need to beat Ravana to rescue Sita - I think it will be interesting to show how that might happen if there was a Ramayana video game in 2020.

Ravana has a lot of heads, which is good for showing the progress towards beating him in this new look game! Source: PDE Ramayana

Introduction to a Robotics Nerd: Justin

Hi everyone! My name is Justin Kleiber, and I am a senior in Computer Engineering. My passion is robotics, which is the main reason I ended up choosing my major. At OU, I am the president of Sooner Competitive Robotics, which is one of the engineering college's competition teams (hit me up if you want to join!). I also do research on campus, where I mainly work on making a quadcopter fly around without a pilot controlling it. I help a group of high school students in OKC build and program a robot for the FIRST robotics competition, a worldwide high school robotics program. I love robotics, and as such, robots tend to surround my life. A picture I took of the research drone flying in its cage Additionally, I am really competitive and love sports. I've gone to every home OU football game in the four years I have been here, as well as to the Rose Bowl, the Peach Bowl, and two Red River Shootout games. Growing up, I was a huge Virginia Tech fan because my parents went there

Week 7 Story: Comedy Mahabharata

Comedy Mahabharata: Act 4, Scene 3 The scene opens up on a battlefield. The Battle of Kurukshetra is only growing in intensity. In the midst of the scrum, ARJUNA comes out to the front and begins speaking. ARJUNA: The Kauravas have killed my son! It had to be that Jayadratha. He is evil, and has always had it coming to him. We should have killed him back a few scenes ago, but... JAYADRATHA appears from the melee JAYADRATHA: I didn't do anything! It was Duhshasana! He killed your son with a mace not I! ARJUNA: That is irrelevant! You led six warriors against him and killed him! I'm going to kill you now. JAYADRATHA: Oh no. ARJUNA and JAYADRATHA begin running around in circles but nobody intervenes. DRONA steps forward DRONA: Yes, we know what you are wondering - why are we Kauravas stopping Arjuna from killing Jayadratha? Jayadratha is on our side after all. But Jayadratha is insignificant to our plans, so we don't really care if anything happens... ARJUN
